Description
ZAN PROJECTILES SLUGS HP .218 40GR 200PCS
The Zan Projectiles Slugs HP .218 40gr 200PCS took the airgun world by storm! Each box has 2 trays of 100 pieces each, with each slug individually packed. Zan also added a resealable film lid to each tray, making sure each slug stays snugly and safely in its place. Because of this packaging, they won’t damage during transport.
These precision swaged air rifle slugs from Slovenia in Europe are made from a special soft lead mixture. Therefore, the slugs have a huge expanding capacity when it hits the target, even with low velocities and at longer distances. This low friction mixture will result in higher velocities with less air, compared to other slugs. Combined with great accuracy, these slugs are excellent for pesting, hunting and target shooting.
Zan slugs tend to work very well in all barrels, even in standard pellet liners. These air rifle slugs are solid, without the flexible skirt of diabolo airgun pellets. Featuring a large hollow point tip design (or open tip, as sometimes referred to) and a flat base, you get both rapid expansion and devastating impact. Additionally, shooters can rely on Zan Projectiles for absolute accuracy and consistency.
Popular as target shooting, as well as hunting and pesting (where allowed) slugs, they deliver accuracy over a long distance and under various conditions.
Note
According to Zan, these 40 grain slugs fit in FX magazines. However, loading more than 10 slugs may influence rotation due to the heavy weight.

SLUGS
There’s no doubt that airgun slugs are a hot topic right now. Compared to traditional diabolo (waisted) airgun pellets, airgun slugs offer improved accuracy at long ranges. They also deliver greater downrange impact due to a higher Ballistic Coefficient. The trajectory is flatter and they’re less affected by crosswinds, too.
Traditional airgun pellets have a distinct head, waist and skirt. Airgun slugs are different because they have no waist. In fact, they have quite a similar shape to the bullets fired in cartridge firearms. Slugs are longer than diabolo pellets and they are heavier.
The airgun’s magazine has to be capable of accepting the projectile. Although they can be fired in conventional airguns, they work best in barrels which have been specially developed for slug use. The barrel requires a much faster twist rate than is usable for pellets.
Because the ballistics of slugs are so different from diabolo pellets, groups shot at 100 Yards can be smaller than those at 50 Yards. This is because the slug gains stabilization as it flies through the air. Typically, slugs perform well in .22 calibre. Slug guns need to produce a Muzzle Energy of 40 Joules or higher. Excellent results are achieved with Muzzle Velocities between 920 and 940 FPS in .22 calibre, so they’re only effectively used in powerful PCP air rifles.
Typically, tests show Ballistic Coefficients of around 0.075 for .22 calibre slugs. This compares to a typical 0.033 for diabolo pellets like H&N Baracuda Match in the same calibre. That’s a HUGE difference! This makes slugs ideal for hunting and long range target shooting. They could also be ideal for shooting reactive targets at variable distances.
