You get a handy, lightweight self-defence spray that reaches about 5m. Ballistic designed them to be compact, so you can easily carry them in a handbag or backpack. In fact, you can even carry it in your pocket! To avoid unwanted discharge, you get a red spring loaded safety cap that prevents spray, unless you deliberately insert your finger underneath it. Disengaging the safety cap is easy and fast, so you can protect yourself at a moment’s notice. What is Pepper Spray?
Pepper spray (also referred to as mace) is used for self-defence and crowd control. The product temporarily incapacitates an individual by causing an immediate burning sensation, inflammation, and involuntary eye closure. It is a non-lethal deterrent that irritates the skin, eyes, and respiratory system, allowing a person to escape or a law enforcement officer to subdue a subject. Its effects are temporary, lasting from 15 to 90 minutes.
Commonly used by civilians to protect themselves from assault or attack by an assailant or aggressive animal. Law enforcement and security personnel also use pepper spray for crowd control, subduing combative subjects, and managing protests.
The active ingredient is oleoresin capsicum (OC), which is derived from hot peppers and causes intense irritation. When sprayed in the face, it causes the following symptoms:
Burning of the eyes and skin, as well as the throat.
Intense eye irritation and also involuntary closing of the eyes.
Difficulty breathing and coughing.
Temporary blindness or difficulty seeing clearly.
