EFFECTO PX-5 SPORT LAMINATED GREEN 5.5MM
One of their most aesthetically pleasing airguns, let’s look at the regulated Effecto PX-5 Sport Laminated Green 5.5mm.
The PX-5 Sport is at the top of the PX-5 PCP air rifles line from Effecto. Compared to other variants, the Sport line features several upgrades, while retaining the main characteristics. In the first place, you get a 580 mm Lothar Walther chocked barrel with 12 grooves. Know, in fact, as very accurate pellet barrel.
The laminate stock features excellent craftsmanship and an ergonomic shape, as well as a roughened grip surface. For maximum comfort, it’s topped off with an adjustable rubber buttpad, as well as an adjustable cheek rest. You also get inserts and washers to customise the cheek piece height to your liking. Furthermore, Effecto included a magazine holder for an extra mag, which is perfect for quick reloads.
For optics, you get a classic 11mm Dovetail rail, preferred by many shooters, of course. And for accessories, you get not one, but two 22mm Picatinny rails. Firstly, the Pic rail at the buttstock is ideal for placing a bag rider for benchrest. Secondly, you get a Pic rail on the forestock for a bipod, tripod or other Picatinny accessory. Likewise, adjacent to these Pic rails, Effecto added sling studs for your convenience.
Other nice features include a metal trigger with an adjustable weight ranging from 500-750 g, as well as a manual trigger safety. You get a large number of accessories, too, like a suppressor, two 10-shot magazines and also a single shot tray, to name a few.
Remember that you’ll need the 1/8″ FEMALE STD MALE NIPPLE & DOWTY for the fill probe. Unless, of course, you plan on fitting the fill probe directly on a fill hose without a quick-coupler.
What Users Like
A beautiful laminated wood stock with both cheek rest and buttpad adjustability.
Very accurate LW Choked barrel, perfect for middle weight pellets at reasonable distances.
Dual Picatinny accessory rails, because you usually only get one on airguns.
Comfortable grip and shoulder feel.
As it is not a high power air rifle, the shroud and included sound moderator provide for quiet shots.
What Users Dislike or Would Change
More power would be great, of course. Shooting slugs efficiently requires more foot-pound energy than you get here.
Bolt action cocking is not for everyone – Most shooters prefer side-levers, especially for benchrest.
Although beautiful, the stock is made for right-handed shooters.
Remove the sling studs to prevent interference with shooting bags or rests for benchrest.
At this price range, you can get a more powerful and bench-suitable air rifle.
