Description

SAA BARREL CLEANING OIL 50ML

Ensure you keep your rifle’s barrel free from fowling with the SAA Barrel Cleaning Oil 50ml. Has a formerly accurate airgun started spreading its shots around? You may need to remove some excess lead build-up! Used by many pro-shooters, our secret recipe will make easy work of your barrel cleaning job, as well as prevent rust. It will not ignite under pressure or harm your seals. Packaged in a 50ml amber glass bottle with a screw on cap, as well as dropper head, for controlled dispensing at an economical price.

Cleaning

We highly recommend that you use this barrel cleaning oil with a pull-through and cotton / felt patches or wads on airguns. Some cleaning products are just too hard to use on the modern, softer air rifle barrels. You can use this cleaning oil on your firearms, as well. Easy to use, the cap features an orifice insert that drop-dispenses the cleaning oil, so you can control how much you add to your cleaning wads or patches.

There’s a wide range of “lead solvent” barrel cleaning products on offer, because a solvent makes the job quicker. However, some contain petrol distillates that will ignite when under pressure, and others may be harmful to seals. Our unique barrel cleaning oil recipe will have your barrel clean in no time, without the risk of harming your seals or barrel or igniting when you shoot.

Depending on how fowled the individual barrel is, it may take several attempts before the patches or cleaning felt come out clean. Clean from the breech if at all possible. You want to protect the rifling at the muzzle, because damage there will spoil the gun’s accuracy. Pull straight out of the muzzle and don’t let the cable ride against the side of the bore. Also, take note of any seals that may come loose when cleaned from the wrong end.

Why Clean Your Barrel

Airgun barrels do get dirty, and often times it affects your rifle’s accuracy. That’s one of the main indicators that the barrel might need cleaning.

Barrels collect dirt in the bore from the oil in the barrel. Oil gets there for many reasons. In spring guns, the mechanism puts it there (through the transfer port). In pneumatics and gas guns, we sometimes oil the pellets. Some pellets even come pre-oiled or waxed.

When you shoot, pellets and slugs leave minute traces of lead in the barrel, and the lead builds up as more rounds are shot. Until it reaches a certain level when no more lead is added, at which point, the barrel is said to be “leaded”. If you change pellets or slugs for one that is harder or softer, the round will not give the best accuracy until it has built up its own leading pattern. This process will take a lot longer if the barrel is already leaded for a different pellet or slug, and so the leading process for a new pellet or slug can be speeded up by thoroughly cleaning the barrel first.
