Description
HATSAN FLASH 101 PCP 5.5MM
If there ever was an entry level airgun that amazed us, it’s the Hatsan Flash 101 PCP 5.5mm! There is no denying that both power and accuracy are sought after qualities in today’s competitive air rifle market. Throw in a bunch of cool features, durability and a budget-friendly price tag, and you have a winner!
This little beast slings 18.13 grain pellets around 910fps, making it a 33.4ft.lbs rifle with accuracy to boot. Of course, it boasts many of the features airgunners have come to know and love.
Features
Firstly, the durable synthetic thumbhole stock is very stable and light in weight. The entire rifle weighs only 2.97kg and features a comfortable pistol grip with finger contours. It also has an ergonomically designed foregrip that sits comfortably in hand. A sturdy barrel band keeps the choked barrel securely in tact. Meanwhile, you’ll find an adjustable buttpad at the end of the stock.
On the forend you have a Picatinny rail for accessory attachment, like a bipod of flashlight. For optics, Hatsan came forth with a dual rail, both Dovetail and Picatinny. We highly recommend using the Picatinny option, as it is a lot sturdier. You can also add a sound moderator to this bad boy, as the barrel features 1/2″ UNF threading. To protect this threading, they added a fancy-looking muzzle break, but also a plainer thread protector if you prefer a sleeker look.
The 200BAR 215cc airtube delivers up to 95 shots per fill, with around 40 full power shots, according to Hatsan. The air reservoir cannot be hand-removed. However, you get a free plug-in dust cover. Reinsert this once you’re done (re)filling your air rifle to keep dust and debris out of your airtube. We also like the fact that the gauge sits under the belly of this rifle.
Apart from a pendulum-style manual safety, the Flash 101 comes with biathlon-style side-lever cocking. It’s quite smooth and effortless, loading the supplied 12-shot magazines with ease. And then the trigger – what a joy! This is Hatsan’s QUATTRO trigger, meaning, it has three points of adjustment.
Quattro Trigger
Hatsan’s Quattro trigger is one of the most sophisticated airgun triggers on the market today. It has 3 user-adjustable settings via 3 adjustment screws. From Hatsan we got the following guide for your reference.
Starting from the front of the rifle:
First Adjuster: Closest screw to the muzzle. This screw sets the initial depth of sear engagement, or overall trigger travel.
Second Adjuster: Middle screw. This screw sets the point at which your 2nd stage engages.
Third Adjuster: Rear screw. This screw adjusts the final pull weight of the trigger. DO NOT over-adjust this screw, as there must be enough spring pressure to set the sear when cocking your gun.
Adjuster #1 can be turned clockwise to reduce initial sear engagement (overall trigger travel); however, it is possible to adjust this to a point at which the sear will not set or will not reliably remain set. If you experience a failure to cock or a failure to remain cocked, turn this adjuster counter-clockwise ¼ turn and test again.
Adjuster #2 will set the engagement point for your 2nd stage. Clockwise will move the engagement point further forward, and can be set to a point that eliminates the 2-stage function of the trigger. Counter-clockwise will move the engagement point further rearward, however, it can be adjusted to a point at which the sear cannot be disengaged. If you experience a failure to fire, turn this adjuster clockwise ¼ turn and test again.
Adjuster #3 will adjust the trigger pull weight, and can help you dial your trigger down to a nice light pull. Counterclockwise will reduce pull force, however, there must be enough spring pressure to set the sear when cocking the gun. If your gun does not cock after adjusting this screw, turn it ¼ turn clockwise and test again.
Notes
Remember to add 1/8″ FEMALE STANDARD SERIES MALE NIPPLE. You need it for the fill probe!
