KRAL PUNCHER S 5.5MM
The Kral Puncher S 5.5mm is certainly a formidable adversary against other PCPs in the same price range. Extremely accurate with power to boot, this feature packed rifle is not only affordable, but also very rugged and easy to use.
Firstly, Kral’s Puncher S is beautifully made in an ambidextrous, durable synthetic stock. It sports a height adjustable cheekpiece and a neutral pistol grip, as well as a rubber recoil pad. For optics, you get a combo rail compatible with both 11 and 22mm scope mounts. Furthermore, you can mount Picatinny accessories on the Pic rail on the forestock.
The cocking system is quiet and also foolproof, with the sidelever neatly tucked into the breech to avoid getting snagged in the field. It pops open to 40 degrees with a gentle pull, and then draws back to 90 degrees, cocking the hammer with the minimum of effort and indexing the 12-shot magazine.
Next, below the sidelever you’ll find a pendulum-style manual safety catch. The adjustable two-stage trigger exhibits minimal creep of the sears and a field-sensible pull weight. You get an aluminium muzzle weight with this rifle, which unscrews to reveal a lengthy ½in UNF thread. This allows you, of course, to fit sound moderation to quiet down this airgun.
It’s not a regulated PCP, but obviously enjoys a well-designed main valve judging by both the incredible consistency between shots and the general lack of power ‘curve’ throughout the charge. Kral carefully selected the rifled steel barrel, to assure the best in both accuracy and consistency.
Filling
Filling is via a standard push-fit probe – it’s a simple case of rotating the dust cover to reveal the Puncher’s inlet port, then plugging in and charging. A colour-coded manometer inlet in the belly of the forestock indicates the rifle’s fill level. As long as you’re in the green (200-80BAR), of course, the rifle is good to shoot.
Remember to add 1/8″ FEMALE STANDARD SERIES MALE NIPPLE. You need it for the fill probe!
Although we always recommend using a cylinder, filled at an accredited refilling centre, you have more options. A quality hand pump is a lot of work, but you will fill this rifle with more ease than others, seeing as it’s only 200 Bar. You can also use a PCP compressor for refilling. Both 12V and 220V compressors rated 200 Bar and up will do the job.
