Slovenian company RTI has managed to produce a completely unique airgun, namely the RTI Prophet II Performance Black 5.5mm! A compact PCP air rifle with tactical design, as well as incredible accuracy. RTI Prophet II is a second generation of the popular compact PCP air rifle. It might look like not much has changed on the first glance, but don’t be fooled.

RTI’s Prophet’s original design is pretty solid, so all they had to do was work from there and push its performance even further. The Prophet II is now an extremely accurate and even more powerful platform than its parent design!

Same Greatness Carried Over

You can easily exchange the barrel for different calibers, so you can get a .177 barrel and simply install it. The muzzle is outfitted with a 1/2 UNF thread, so you can add additional sound moderator. This rifle’s action is both smooth, as well as reliable. The side lever remains in the rear position after firing the last round, which prevents dry fires. Also, they placed the cocking lever on the left side. It makes sense for right-handed shooters because, in this location, it’s not necessary to release the right hand’s grasp on the pistol grip between shots.

RTI Arms did an outstanding job with tuning the trigger mechanism. The trigger is fully adjustable, down to a mere 200 gram! Meanwhile, the manual safety is located behind the trigger for ease of access.

You can attach a scope to the 20MOA 22mm Picatinny / Weaver rail on the top of the rifle. Another mounting rail can be found on the lower side of the frame and will allow you to attach accessories. The ergonomically shaped AR-15 grip will also fit your hands perfectly.

But How Is It Different?

This model introduces a number of improvements to an already solid platform. These improvements include a larger Power Plenum with a capacity of 70 cc, new assisted valve, as well as an improved cocking lever with a smoother action. The new valve needs less force to be opened, so the cocking lever is lighter. Furthermore, you get a brand new Lothar Walther proprietary barrel (RPB), which was especially designed for both pellets and slugs. Accuracy is, of course, going off the grid with this new barrel, which has a 1:16 twist rate and is lightly chocked.

This is the Performance configuration which includes a selection of upgrades for shooters who want to get the best possible results out of their rifle. It has an externally adjustable pressure regulator, as well as extended stock and a carbon air bottle with a capacity of 500cc and a working pressure of 300 Bar.

The enhanced plenum operates in combination with a new valve, which uses air from the barrel to close faster. RTI explains that the valve opens from zero to full in 1 millisecond. The result is that the Prophet II can achieve high power, not only from low HPA pressures, but also with increased efficiency. It’s regulator can operate at pressures between 80 to 180 Bar (1,160 to 2,610 PSI).

In Short Terms

New breech block which now includes integrated 70 cc plenum. Theoretically, you could put two extended plenums on the gun and gain 44 cc additional volume, but it is not needed.

The new assisted valve system closes and opens quicker (measured 1 millisecond open and 1 millisecond close time). This means it uses less air for the same energy output and also means you can gain more energy.

New lightly choked Lothar Walther proprietary barrel (RPB) in .22 which shoot slugs as well as pellets. These have a huge double transfer port for maximum air efficiency.
