Description

AIR ARMS MATCH-T 4.5MM 8.02GR 500PCS

Achieve success in competitive 10m shooting with the Air Arms Match-T 4.5mm 8.02gr 500PCS pellets. Produced to the highest standards, thanks to stringent controls, as well as rigorous product testing. These pellets deliver accuracy and consistency in every shot, the main ingredients necessary to confidently compete and get results. When only the best will do, choose Air Arms pellets.

For the 10 meter air rifle and air pistol disciplines, shooters must use match-grade diabolo pellets. These pellets are wadcutter, which means the pellet head is nearly completely flat. Therefore, they leave smooth-edged round holes in paper targets. This, of course, allows for easy gauging during scoring. The 8.02 grain weight is appropriate for most commonly used air guns. With regards to its weight, it is central in respect of the weights offered.

Pellet Care

These pellets, made for Air Arms by JSB in the Czech Republic, use special soft lead for best results. The most common pellet damage today is deformation of the skirt. Many modern pellets have thin skirts that form a seal in the breech at low air pressure, which is generally a good thing for energy efficiency. However, it does make the skirts more susceptible to damage.

The extreme velocity spread with damaged pellets through a PCP can be up to five times as great as with undamaged pellets. Damage to pellets will affect accuracy and consistency, so we highly recommend shooters avoid dirt, deformation and other damage that could impair pellet uniformity. Not only does moderate pellet skirt ovality dramatically increase group sizes, but it also makes pellets far more susceptible to wind drift. Deformed pellets are less stable in flight. The ballistic coefficient of deformed pellets are much lower, so they lose velocity more quickly and take longer to get to the target. So, the effect of the wind will last for a longer period.

It is generally speaking “safe” to use mildly deformed pellets insofar as it will not damage your air rifle. But, from the accuracy standpoint, it is most certainly not recommended to use mildly or even slightly deformed pellets.

For best results, keep your pellets free from dust and debris, like in a closed tin. Avoid shaking or dropping your pellets, and handle individual pellets with care. Even squeezing the skirts gently with your fingers could cause the round skirts to become oval.

Pro Tips

Expert shooters believe it is vital to weigh and sort your pellets if you hope to be competitive in any type of airgun competition. Gently place your pellets on a soft surface, like a blanket or towel. Inspect individual pellets for deformation, especially at the skirt. You can weigh individual pellets with a suitable pellet scale to ensure your hand-picked batch is as consistent in weight as possible.
